Sen. Cory Booker, a Democratic candidate for president, is urging Congress to begin impeachment proceedings for President Donald Trump.
Booker, who represents New Jersey, made his comments in three tweets after Robert Mueller publicly discussed the findings in the special counsel’s report.
Booker tweeted: “Robert Mueller’s statement makes it clear: Congress has a legal and moral obligation to begin impeachment proceedings immediately.”
“I’ve been asking for Mueller’s testimony — today he made his views clear.”
And Booker added: “This Administration has continued to stonewall Congress’s oversight. Beginning impeachment proceedings is the only path forward.”
The Washington Examiner noted Booker previously had declined to follow the lead of Democratic rivals like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who had earlier called for the start of impeachment proceedings.
