The parents of Christopher Jake Stone, one of the students killed in the mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas last week, have filed a $1 million wrongful death suit against the mother and father of accused gunman Dimitrios Pagourtzis, the Houston Chronicle is reporting.
The suit, filed by Christopher Stone and Rosie Yanas, claims Antonios Pagourtzis and Rose Marie Kosmetatos, should be held responsible, according to the newspaper.
It accuses them of permitting their son access to their firearms and it claims they failed to properly secure the weapons from him.
The teenager is accused of killing 10 people – eight students and two teachers in the attack last Friday.
He is believed to have concealed a shotgun and a .38 caliber revolver under a long coat. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the two guns used in the shooting belonged to the suspect's father.
"Had the murderer not had available to him the weapons for his carnage, his hidden black rage might well have continued to simmer within, but the life's blood of his teachers and peers ... would not have been so horribly, callously and needlessly spilled," the suit said.
