The creator of the TV series "American Horror Story: Cult" has cut back a scene in the upcoming Tuesday episode following the Las Vegas shooting attack that killed 58 and injured hundreds, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I just made the decision that I'm going to have all of that violence be shown for the most part off camera," said Ryan Murphy, the co-creator and producer of the FX Network show.

He made the comments at a New Yorker Festival discussion Saturday.

Murphy said he felt a "responsibility" to gun violence victims.

"Nobody ever talks about victims' rights. That's sort of a weird emotional discussion that's never bridged. But I felt great sympathy for people who were affected, certainly, and family members and loved ones and people who are upset about the way the world is," he said during the interview, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The scene was graphic, Murphy said, because he wanted to provide "an obvious anti-gun warning about society."

"I believe that now is probably not the week to have something explosive or incendiary in the culture because someone who was affected might watch that and it could trigger something or make them feel upset. So our decision was to re-edit it and I felt that was the right move," Murphy said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This season of the horror anthology series depicts a cult and its leader who commit murders in the wake of the 2016 presidential election, but it does not take a political side, Murphy said in September in The New York Times.

"It's not about Trump, it's not about Clinton, it's about somebody who has the wherewithal to put their finger up in the wind and see what's happening and using that to rise up and form power," Murphy said in the New York Times interview.

"Every side on our show gets it just as much," Murphy added.
