President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani admitted Monday his recent call for the Russia investigation to be suspended was all for show.
Giuliani told Politico he was simply playing his role as a representative for his client when he demanded special counsel Robert Mueller suspend his probe into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.
"I didn't think it would" work, Giuliani told Politico. "But I still think [the investigation] should be" ended.
The former New York City mayor added, "That's what I'm supposed to do. What am I supposed to say? That they should investigate him forever? Sorry, I'm not a sucker."
Giuliani made the aforementioned remark during an interview Thursday night, the day a report that critiqued the FBI's handling of the Hillary Clinton investigation was made public.
Giuliani routinely appears on cable and network news shows to bash the Russia investigation, echoing Trump's calls is a witch hunt.
