Mitt Romney is telling Alabama voters that President Barack Obama wrongly thinks the country is doing better because of recent job increases.
Romney told a rain-soaked crowd in Mobile on Monday that Obama should talk to the millions of people who remain unemployed or have stopped looking for work.
February was the third consecutive month in which the government reported that more than 200,000 jobs had been created. The U.S. unemployment rate is 8.3 percent.
Romney said the Obama administration had vowed to keep unemployment below 8 percent and is prematurely celebrating.
A heavy rain storm forced Romney's outdoor audience to cram into a restaurant's long, narrow porch to hear his remarks. Voters in Alabama go to the polls on Tuesday.
