Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney hasn’t decided on his running mate yet, Romney’s wife Ann told
ABC News Wednesday.
"We're not quite there yet," Ann Romney said about the vice presidential selection in an interview with Robin Roberts scheduled to air on "Good Morning America" Thursday.
"We are certainly talking a lot. This last week, this last weekend, there was a lot of discussion . . . We're going to be there soon."
Speculation has circulated in recent days that the choice could be announced as early as this week. The Romney camp has said the choice could come anytime between now and the convention, which begins Aug. 27.
"I'll wait and see too what Mitt is going to decide," Ann Romney said. "I have no knowledge of what, when, or who is going to be coming down the road. So, I'll stay tuned with you."
Republican sources told The New York Times that Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty are at the top of Romney’s list.
Ann Romney wants her husband to pick someone who shares his ideals. “I was thinking of passion for this country, being able to serve, being able to have experience, real experience, being able to be ready Day One," she said. "Actually, if you think about it, there are a lot of people that fit under that umbrella."
