Perry Supports Romney’s Abortion Stance

By    |   Wednesday, 10 October 2012 10:53 AM EDT

After Mitt Romney said Tuesday in an interview that there was no abortion legislation on his agenda, Texas Gov. Rick Perry came out in support of the presidential candidate, saying, “I think the Supreme Court is where that issue will be decided.”

Appearing Wednesday on CBS’ This Morning, Perry added, “He’s said very clearly that he’s going to put people who are constitutionalists on the Supreme Court.”

Perry, a social conservative who has said in the past that abortion was a states’ rights issue under the Tenth Amendment, believes Romney would follow the constitution in dealing with abortion, according to Politico.

In the interview with the Des Moines Register, Romney went on to say he would reinstate a ban on U.S. foreign aid paying for abortions, a ban President Barack Obama dropped on his 10th day in office.

With Planned Parenthood, the White House, and others accusing Romney of changing his abortion views, Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul send out an email Tuesday saying that Romney "would of course support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life."
