CNN Sources: Robert Mueller Is Writing His Final Report

With the midterm election now in the rear-view mirror, special counsel Robert Mueller's presumed radio silence might abate as his team is now in the process of writing its final report on 2016 election meddling and potential Trump campaign involvement with Russia, CNN reported.

Multiple sources have told CNN the final report is being prepared, per the report.

One of the final pieces is President Donald Trump's responses to questions from Mueller's investigators, and President Trump is now reviewing those responses, according to sources.

After the dismissal of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has recused himself in the investigation into the U.S. president's campaign, CNN speculated Trump might be inclined to change some of his responses to the questions because of a more favorable Justice Department official who is not recused, Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker, is now in place.

But a CNN source reportedly debunked that speculation.

"Despite the change in leadership at the Justice Department, the Trump legal team believes it won't affect its approach to the Mueller questions, according to one source familiar with the matter," according to CNN.

The next question will be what will the public be privy to. Mueller's report is deemed "confidential" by the Justice Department orders, including "prosecution or declination decisions reached by the special counsel," CNN reported.

Whitaker, who has publicly scrutinized the investigation that Trump has repeatedly calls a "witch hunt," is now likely the man in charge of what will be released publicly from Mueller's final report.

A source expects Mueller's final report to be detailed "to make sure it withstands public scrutiny," CNN reported.

Those resistant to President Trump's election victory point to 35 people and entities charged, six pleading guilty, and three receiving prison time from the investigation, but White House backers remind none of those charges are related to election meddling or Trump campaign collusion as mandated for investigation under the special counsel.
