Sen. Scott Slams Schumer: 'He Is Stopping' Disaster Relief Bill

(Fox News' "America's Newsroom")

Everybody should be frustrated about disaster relief, but Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., "thinks it's good politics" to stop President Donald Trump and is blocking a bill from passing, Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., said Thursday.

"Chuck Schumer maybe doesn't care about the panhandle of Florida, but he is stopping this bill from getting done," Sen. Scott, the former governor of Florida, told Fox News' "America's Newsroom."

"It makes no sense to me. We have our military. Camp Lejeune, why doesn't Chuck Schumer care about our military?"

Scott said that when he was at a rally with Trump in Florida on Wednesday night, he told them to call Schumer and ask him about passing the disaster relief bill.

"I made sure in the bill the Republican Senate proposed that Chuck Schumer stopped and we had money for Puerto Rico, disaster relief, food, and nutrition money that wasn't in there before," Scott said.

Scott also repeated his call for a blockade on Cuba to enforce oil sanctions against Venezuela.

"The biggest player here is Cuba," Scott said. "I was to the border of Venezuela two weeks ago . . . we have to stop the flow of oil. How can we do that? We tried the sanctions. I hope they're working. There is still oil flowing. Let's blockade the ports in Cuba."
