The next president of the United States should not be bound by a nuclear powers agreement with Iran that is not voted on and approved by Congress, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry said in a strong video statement released Friday afternoon.
"We must not allow the incompetence of one administration to damage our country's security for years and decades to come," Perry, a likely candidate for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, said on the video, which his politicial action committee,
RickPAC.org released on YouTube.

In the stark video, which shows images from the Middle East and Iran, Perry warns that the Obama administration is "desperately pursuing the agreement, and "seems prepared to accept an agreement that will leave Iran with the infrastructure and capacity to build nuclear weapons."
Further, Perry argued, the agreement, if reached, "will provide an economic boost" to Iran, which "spends its money importing the tools of oppression and exporting terrorism."
The president's negotiating team, Perry pointed out, has caved in on numerous demands, including a pledge that Iran will dismantle much of its enrichment capacity, but instead, "Iran will retain thousands of centrifuges."
The team also once insisted Iran would have to "come clean on the military dimensions of its nuclear program," but has all but forgotten, if not forgiven Iran's past.
iran has long-range ballistic missiles, said Perry, "whose only purpose is carrying a nuclear payload," but those missiles are not under discussion.
"Perhaps the most disturbing concession to iran is the notion of a sunset clause," said Perry. "This means that a date, perhaps only 10 years from now, Iran will be free to become a nuclear power with our acceptance and approval. All limits on this terrorist regime will be removed."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a special appearance before Congress this week to warn that the deal would also jeopardize the security of his country, said Perry.
Perry said in his opinion, there should be two principles that are not negotiable when it comes to Iran: "One, that Iran will not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons," and "Two, the United States will not normalize relations with Iran until Iran ceases to support terrorist groups that target the United States and our allies."
To this day, Perry insists in the video, Iran is still the most significant supporter or terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas, and "continues to call for extinction of Israel and actively plots against our Arab allies."
Further, the nation's leaders deny their people the freedom they seek, said Perry, and are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans.
"The ayatollahs have the blood up hundreds and hundreds of Americans on their hands, from Marines blown up in Beirut to soldiers killed in Iraq with weapons Iran supplied," said Perry. "This proposed nuclear agreement will legitimize the Iranian regime and its quest for nuclear weapons — this cannot stand."
Perry also called for the Senate to pass a bipartisan sanctions bill sponsored by Sens. Mark Kirk and Robert Menendez, and for Congress to 'demand that any nuclear agreement negotiated with Iran be submitted to Congress for a vote, not deliberately kept from our elected representatives."
