A Rhode Island professor who's made negative comments about conservatives in the past is in hot water again this week for hinting that the shooting death of a Patriot Prayer supporter in Portland this August was warranted.
Erik Loomis, a history professor at the University of Rhode Island, wrote a blog post titled: "Why Was Michael Reinoehl Killed?”
The post asks whether police purposely "murdered" Michael Reinoehl, the man who shot Patriot Prayer supporter Aaron “Jay” Danielson in late August, when Trump supporters fought Black Lives Matters members in Portland.
“I am extremely anti-conspiracy theory. But it’s not a conspiracy theory at this point in time to wonder if the cops simply murdered him,” Loomis wrote. “The police is shot through with fascists from stem to stern. They were openly working with the fascists in Portland, as they were in Kenosha which led to dead protestors.”
Law enforcement officers shot and killed Reinoehl last week after finding him in Washington state. Police obtained a second-degree murder warrant for Reinoehl linked to the shooting death of Daniel.
“Michael Reinoehl is the guy who killed the fascist in Portland last week,” Loomis wrote on Sept. 4. “He admitted it and said he was scared the cops would kill him. Well, now the cops have killed him.”
In the comment section of the post, someone wrote: “Erik, he shot and killed a guy.”
Loomis replied: “[Reinoehl] killed a fascist. I see nothing wrong with it, at least from a moral perspective.”
