Only 14 percent of Americans say it is too easy to become a U.S. citizen, which is significantly lower than the 28 percent who felt that way in 2014, according to a Rasmussen Reports survey released on Wednesday.

Nineteen percent of those surveyed said it is too difficult to become a citizen of the United States, a percentage that is little changed from earlier polls.

Fifty-three percent said the level of difficulty in obtaining American citizenship is about right, which is up from 36 percent four years ago. In 2013, 42 percent said becoming a citizen is about right.

The survey of 1,000 American adults was conducted on January 22-23. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points, with a 95-percent level of confidence.
