Disneyland has raised its prices for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, costing more than ever to enjoy the "happiest place on Earth," the Orange County Register reported.

According to the newspaper, Disneyland's lower-tier passes will jump as high as $60, while its Disneyland/Walt Disney World combo pass will cost some $300 more.

In turn, Disney is offering up a couple of new top-level passes. The Register reported that the Disney Signature Plus will cost $1,049 with no blackout days. The Disney Signature will go for $849 and good for 350 days, excluding some winter holiday periods, noted the newspaper.

"In addition to our continued investment in the guest experience and the expansion of our parks, our new selection of annual passes will help us manage strong demand and continue to deliver a world-class experience, while providing more choices for guests to select the pass that best meets their needs," said Suzi Brown, a Disneyland spokeswoman.

Robert Niles, of Theme Park Insider.com, said while he does not think the sizable price increases for Disneyland will lead to a customer revolt, he added that it could give other Southern California amusement parks a chance to grab more of the market share.

"Still, Disneyland's price increase creates opportunities for its nearest competitors in the Los Angeles-area theme park market: Universal Studios Hollywood and Knott's Berry Farm," Niles wrote.

"With a no-blockout pass to the Disneyland theme parks now costing more than $1,000 a year, Universal and Knott's have plenty of room to raise their pass prices and create new admission products and still come off looking like an absolute bargain compared with what Disney is charging," Niles continued.

Some fans took their anger to the price hike to social media.
