Barbra Streisand has sparked new rumors she might have once had a romantic relationship with Prince Charles. The two have drifted in and out of one another's lives over the years and, although there have been reports of a possible romance, both parties have remained tight-lipped. Until now.
Speaking to the audience during her performance at the British Summer Time Hyde Park Sunday night, Streisand said things could have turned out differently between the pair.
"If I had played my cards right, I could have been the first Jewish princess," she said, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail. The 77-year-old iconic singer then showed her fans several photos of her and Charles together and even flashed them a newspaper clipping that read "Barbra charms her prince, Charles."
Streisand and Charles first met in 1974, while on the set of "Funny Girl," and reunited again 20 years later when the crooner performed at the Prince's Trust charity held at Wembley Arena.
Rumors of a relationship surfaced in 2006 when reports emerged Charles had allegedly tried to romance Streisand, the Mail noted. He was already separated from Princess Diana at the time but was dating Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Christopher Andersen again referenced the affair in his 2016 book "Game of Crowns: Elizabeth, Camilla, Kate and the Throne, Charles and Streisand" which claimed Charles and Streisand "had a secret rendezvous at the Bel Air Hotel that no one [knew] about," People noted.
The allegations did little to dampen Streisand's sense of humor, which was turned up a notch Sunday night – so much so she even altered the lyrics of a song in honor of the Royal family.
"When the sun begins to sparkle, like that ring on Meghan Markle," she sang good-naturedly.
