President Donald Trump hits the media over twice as hard as any other entity in his social media attacks on Twitter, Axios reported Saturday.

Since taking office January 20, the online news media company calculated Trump had engaged in 167 attacks on Twitter through October 11. The media came in first as his primary target at 89, with 33 tweets on "fake news" alone. CNN, NBC and The New York Times were often called out specifically by the president.

Democrats came in second with 38 tweets, most of them targeted to specific individuals, although Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton received several.

The category "Others" came in third with the most in "Public Figures," although companies, celebrities, former FBI Director James Comey, sports and international figures were also targeted.

Lastly, Trump's own party is included with several aimed at Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker and various other Republicans.

Axios explained its method for calculating what would be considered an attack, saying it noted "each time he used Twitter exclusively to name-call, shame, insult or mock a specific person, company or industry, as well as each entity being attacked," adding that a negative comment didn't always qualify as an "attack."
