As Americans pay tribute to veterans, 55% consider Veterans Day to be one of the nation's most important holidays, according to a new survey by Rasmussen Reports.
Three years ago, 51% said Veterans Day is one of the most important holidays.
Here are highlights from the poll results released on Friday.
- 7% say they consider it one of the least important holidays, while 34% say it falls in between one of the most important and one of the least important holidays.
- 56% say they, or a member of their immediate family, served in the U.S. military.
- 69% of Republicans rate Veterans Day as one of the most important holidays.
- 50% of Democrats say it is one of the most important holidays.
- 50% of independents say it is one of the most important holidays.
The poll, conducted Oct. 16-17, surveyed 1,000 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
