China, Russia, US Gird for Battle Over the Arctic

A staggering $35 trillion worth of oil and natural gas deposits remain undiscovered north of the Arctic Circle, as the world waits to see if the United States, Russia, or China will claim the prize.

Melting polar ice is making the region more accessible than it’s been in a century. But so far, the United States does not seem to be taking the battle for control of the Arctic very seriously.
