Piers Morgan: Democrats' Excuses 'Get Ever More Ludicrous'

CNN's Piers Morgan has called President Barack Obama's repeated promises that people can keep healthcare plans they like a "barefaced lie." 

He also appears none too happy that Democrats who defend the statements keep coming up with new excuses for them.

Morgan is a native of Britain, where healthcare is provided by the government, and he favors universal healthcare in the United States. But he has made no bones about the fiasco of the Obamacare website rollout and his disdain for what he considers a dishonest sales job.

His guests Wednesday night were Reps. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Frank Pallone, D-N.J. Both are members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, to which Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified earlier in the day.

Pallone told Morgan that people can continue to buy policies he called "lousy" because they don't offer enough coverage and cost the insured large sums of money. That doesn't square, however, with the law, which says all policies offered must meet certain criteria.

"If you want to go buy a scam policy, you can. But nobody's going to buy it," Pallone said.

Pallone's words didn't sway Morgan.

"If you move the goalposts any further, they'll literally be off the field," Morgan said in wrapping up the interview. "The excuses," he said, "get ever more ludicrous."
