President Donald Trump's proposed tax reform will ultimately come before the end of the year – as "all the planets are aligned" – after the Senate passes the healthcare reform bill, House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said Sunday.
"The crown jewel of our economic growth plan is tax reform,' Rep. Ryan told Sunday's "The Cats Roundtable."
"You can't do tax reform through reconciliation until you first process the reconciliation of healthcare."
Ryan told host John Catsimatidis he hopes the Senate can pass healthcare reform "in a month or two" so they can move on to tax reform aimed to grow the economy, because the "American public is expecting" it in law by New Year's Day 2018.
"We don't want to put an artificial deadline on tax reform because we want to get it right," Ryan added. "So, this is really a plan for 2017, and we are convinced that we can get this done in 2017 so that the economy can really start to take off. . . .
"It's a long time in coming, but all the planets are aligned, meaning you have the House, the Senate, and the White House all working on this plan together to make sure we get comprehensive tax reform."
