President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort on Tuesday flatly denied he ever had secret conversations with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange — and threatened possible legal action against the newspaper that reported the explosive allegation, Fox News reported.

According to the Guardian, Manafort met multiple times between 2013 and 2016 with Assange, all before the presidential election.

The 2016 meeting allegedly occurred inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London around the time he joined the Trump campaign, the Guardian reported.

Fox News’ Shepard Smith reported Tuesday afternoon that Manafort denied the report, reading the Manafort statement on air.

“The story is totally false and deliberately libelous,” the statement read, Smith reported. “I have never met Julian Assange or have ever been connected to anyone from Wikileaks directly or indirectly, or ever reached out to Assange or Wikileaks on any matter. We're considering all legal options against the Guardian, the newspaper involved who proceeded with the story even after being notified by my representatives that it is false.”
