Entrepreneur and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on Thursday endorsed West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey's candidacy in the state's gubernatorial race, basing the endorsement on Morrisey's fight against the Environmental Protection Agency.
"The single most important Supreme Court ruling this century is West Virginia v. EPA," Ramaswamy said in his announcement. "It codifies the Major Questions Doctrine, which likely renders the majority of federal regulations unconstitutional. If a federal regulation has a major economic or policy impact, it must be passed by Congress, not a 3-letter agency."
This means that now, "everyday citizens, businesses, and the next U.S. president can finally hold these agencies accountable for their illegal overreach," Ramaswamy added.
"This is a key weapon in the legal arsenal to dismantle the deep state and Patrick Morrisey led the charge all the way to the Supreme Court," he said. "That's why I'm proud to endorse him to be the next governor of West Virginia."
Morrisey said he and Ramaswamy agree that "the deep state looms large, and it's up to the states to fight back. As governor, West Virginians will be assured that our state will be protected from federal overreach and woke-left policies of any kind."
Ramaswamy, after suspending his campaign for president, endorsed Donald Trump.
Morrisey has been endorsed by influential statewide and national organizations for governor, including The National Rifle Association (NRA); Gun Owners of America; West Virginia Citizens Defense League (WVCDL); West Virginia Farm Bureau; West Virginians for Life; West Virginia Coal Association; West Virginia Sheriffs' Association; Veterans for Trump/America First; and several state senators, delegates, prosecutors, county commissioners, and small businesses.
