A district court judge in Oregon ordered access to attorneys be given to 121 undocumented immigrant detainees who had previously been denied legal representation, Fox channel KPTV reported.
The temporary restraining order issued Monday by U.S. District Court Judge Michael Simon also prevents ICE from transferring the detainees out of state and the federal government from holding any hearings until the detainees have been trained on "Know Your Rights," KPTV reported.
"We should all be concerned if the government is locking people in a federal prison without due process, being held for I believe now for 26 days, without appearing before any sort of a judge, and without having the opportunity to speak with an attorney,” Leland Baxter-Neal of the ACLU of Oregon told KPTV.
The illegals are being held at a federal prison in Sheridan, Oregon.
