Oprah Winfrey says "No!"
In an interview with InStyle Magazine, the one-woman empire says she is not interested in running for president in 2020.
"It’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it," she told the magazine in an interview shortly after her stirring Golden Globes speech that ignited talk of her running.
For days after the speech, #Oprah2020 trended on twitter, and her longtime partner Stedman Graham told the Los Angeles Times, "It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it."
But Winfrey demurred when InStyle interviewer Laura Brown asked her how she feels when people say, "Oprah 2020."
Winfrey laughed and said: "I actually saw a mug the other day ... I thought it was a cute mug. All you need is a mug and some campaign literature and a T-shirt. I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not…I met with someone the other day who said that they would help me with a campaign. That’s not for me."
A CNN poll showed Winfrey beating President Donald 51 percent to 42 percent, and Trump said he thought he would beat Winfrey, though he doubted she would run.
Winfrey's speech after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes, touched on racism, sexism, the Harvey Weinstein scandal, and her hopes for "all the girls watching out there" to become tomorrow's leaders in a world where "nobody ever has to say, 'Me too' again."
