Club for Growth President David McIntosh called on Congress to move "quickly" to vote on Obamacare repeal bills introduced by Republican Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Mark Sanford.
"This isn't complicated," McIntosh said Wednesday in a statement. "Republican leaders on both sides of Capitol Hill should quickly schedule votes on the Obamacare repeal bill that was passed in 2015 and on the Obamacare replacement legislation.
"With these bills, conservatives in Congress have charted a clear course to replace Obamacare with strong free-market solutions," he said.
Paul, who represents Kentucky, introduced the bill to replace the Affordable Care Act earlier Wednesday.
According to The Hill, Paul's legislation would abolish several aspects of Obamacare, including the requirement every American have healthcare coverage or pay a fine, as well as some protections for people with preexisting conditions and some other essential benefits of the healthcare plan.
Paul's bill also includes a tax credit of up to $5,000 per person to pay for part of a Health Savings Account to cover medical care costs — and it would allow insurers to sell policies across state lines, The Hill reported.
Sanford, of South Carolina, introduced a companion bill in the House.
The conservative House Freedom Caucus also endorsed Paul's bill.
"Voters gave Republicans the charge to repeal and replace Obamacare," Club for Growth's McIntosh said, "and the continued delays and discussions about repairing Obamacare need to stop."
