Obamacare Mandate Delay Won't Fix Problems

An exclusive new video report from Newsmax TV features the latest update on Obamacare and a troubling look at its looming effects on the nation.

Dr. Stephen Hotze, who has his own practice outside Houston, tells Newsmax he has serious concerns about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as a doctor and small business owner with 95 employees.

"I've been told premiums could go up 30 to 50 percent," he says, warning that the law will force small business owners to make tough decisions: "Are they going to pay increased premiums, which are going to affect their bottom line, or are they going to pay a penalty?"

That penalty for not providing health insurance will be $2,000 a year for each full-time employee. Individuals also face a penalty if they don't buy insurance, yet the Congressional Budget Office estimates that 7 million Americans will lose their current coverage and many of those will just pay the fine rather than purchase more expensive insurance coverage.

Even after the Obama administration recently announced it would delay imposition of the employer mandate to provide insurance until 2015, Obama continues to claim that Americans will save money because of the law.

But Nick Tate, author of the "ObamaCare Survival Guide: The Affordable Care Act and What It Means for You and Your Healthcare," says the employer mandate delay points to the difficulties in implementing Obamacare, and he expects more changes to come.

"It does seem to me the delay raises questions as to whether the Obama administration is really ready for prime time," says Tate, whose Obamacare book reached the No. 1 position on the New York Times' best-seller list for paperback/advice and remains No. 1 in three categories on Amazon.com.

House Speaker John Boehner is troubled by the Obama administration's decision to delay the employer mandate but not the individual mandate.

"There's no fairness when big businesses are getting an exemption from the Obamacare mandate but American families aren't," he says.

Republicans are not alone in opposing Obamacare and bracing for problems. Sen. Max Baucus, a Montana Democrat and chairman of the Finance Committee who helped write the Affordable Care Act, warns: "I just see a huge train wreck coming down and I don't see any results yet."
