Al-Qaida Threatens Obama's Step-Grandmother in Kenya

Security was boosted around the home of President Barack Obama's step-grandmother in Kenya after an African arm of al-Qaida issued a personal threat against her, according to Kenyan police. Officers are patrolling around the clock because Al Shabaab, the Somalia-based branch of al-Qaida, threatened the life of Sarah Obama, ABC reported.

Although security had been added to her house the day after bin Laden was killed because of fears of retaliation, the number of patrolling officers has been boosted since Al Shabaab's threat was issued.

Sarah Obama said she doesn't mind the extra security, telling ABC: "My life has not been affected in any way. It has not restricted my movement. If the government has decided to bring more security personnel, we are OK with it."
