David Simas, the Obama campaign’s director of opinion research, says current polls are to be ignored.
"Polls will go up, polls will go down," he said in a campaign webcast for volunteers,
Politico reports.
"At the end of the day, polls don't matter. Work harder than you ever have. Dig in, make the calls, knock on the doors."

His view may have something – or perhaps everything – to do with the fact that Mitt Romney has pretty much eliminated President Barack Obama’s lead in the polls since last Wednesday’s debate.
"We have said from the beginning that this will be a very, very close race," Simas said. "If the election were held today, the president would absolutely be re-elected."
The most recent polls don’t necessarily support that view. Pew Research Center and Gallup surveys taken since the debate show Romney grabbing the lead nationally, and Obama’s lead in swings states has shrunk noticeably.
