White House: Election Won't Hurt Security Agenda

RAMSTEIN, Germany (AP) — A chief aide to President Barack Obama says the administration does not expect any drop-off in congressional support for its security efforts, even though Republicans made big gains in the midterm elections.

Obama national security adviser Tom Donilon said Friday that the administration has received strong bipartisan support as it wages war in Afghanistan, pursues counterterrorism strategies worldwide and steps up engagement with Asia.

Said Donilon: "We expect to continue to have that kind of support."

Republicans, riding a wave of voter concern about the U.S. economy, soundly defeated Obama's Democratic Party in the elections and have promised change in the domestic agenda.

Obama is en route to India. He stopped in Germany for the refueling of Air Force One.
