President Barack Obama’s budget deficit commission is scheduled to report to him Wednesday. But it’s unclear whether commission members will be able to get over their differences to present a coherent, substantive plan to slash the deficit,
Politico reports.

The commission announced Monday that it’s cancelling its last scheduled meeting Tuesday to provide more time for one-on-one meetings so that it can reach a consensus on policy recommendations.
One Democratic commission member says achieving approval of 14 of the 18 commission members, which Democratic congressional leaders say would lead to a vote on the package, “is going to really limit the ground that could be agreed on.”
Commission members have been bitterly divided over the issues, accusing each other of failing to compromise while vowing not to compromise themselves.
