President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has released a lengthy website ad touting his accomplishments while ripping the tea party movement and Republican leaders in Congress.
The polished commercial, which runs for about seven minutes on YouTube, covers everything from the Wall Street and auto company bailouts to the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Story continues below video.
It makes the point throughout that Obama has had to deal with some of the toughest issues ever faced by a president while confronting opponents “who said America’s best days were behind us.”
The narrator in the ad never mentions the tea party movement, but the ad does contain video and pictures of tea party protests and of conservative talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck.
The ad also plays up news footage and commentary referring to the Republican Party as “the party of no” while video of Republican congressional leaders urging their members to vote no on legislation runs along with it.
That particular segment ends with a clip of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell laying out the GOP’s top priority in a speech last year at a Heritage Foundation event.
“Our top priority over the next two years should be to deny president Obama a second term,” McConnell says.
Then it’s the narrator’s turn.
“Instead of working together to lift America up, Republicans were waging a campaign to tear the president down,” the narrator says.
