LIGNET: Was Deal with North Korea a Wasted Bribe?

According to an agreement reached this week, North Korea will receive 240,000 tons of food aid from the United States in return for halting nuclear weapons tests and allowing inspectors back into one of its nuclear facilities. The press portrayed the agreement as a major breakthrough in long-stalled nuclear talks, but if history is any judge, the North Koreans aren’t likely to keep their promises.
