NKorea to Obama: Focus on Leaving WH, Not Human Rights Issues

President Barack Obama should focus on packing up and leaving the White House, not North Korea's human rights issues said the state-owned North Korea press agency KCNA.

KCNA's statement said, "Obama would be well-advised not to waste time taking issue with others' 'human rights issue' but make good arrangements for packing in the White House."

The agency added, "The U.S. is not qualified to talk about somebody's 'human rights' as it is the world's worst human rights abuser and a tundra of human rights," according to an English translation by KCNA Watch.

Obama is the cause of the U.S.' human rights abuses, the agency said.

"He had better repent of the pain and misfortune he has brought to so many Americans and other people of the world by creating the worst human rights situation in the U.S. during his tenure of office."

The agency's statement was in response to the U.S. Treasury Department's sanctioning of North Korea.

"This is nothing but Washington's last resort to tarnish the image of the DPRK," which stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the country's official name.

Reuters reported Jan. 11 that the U.S. Treasury Department blacklisted seven senior North Korean officials because of human rights abuses and censorship issues, including North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's sister.

While the agency claimed that the U.S. was guilty of human rights abuses, Human Rights Watch said in its world report on Jan. 12 that North Korea is one of the most repressive countries in the world, and has "gulags, forced labor, and public executions."
