By    |   Thursday, 07 July 2011 01:36 PM EDT

The hacking scandal continues to intensify for Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. British police may be preparing to arrest several News of the World journalists and executives within days, as new evidence has surfaced suggesting that the paper hacked into the phones of soldiers who died at war, according to Politico.

The police brought in five News of the World journalists and executives for questioning, according to News Corp.-owned the Times of London. The Times story’s headline read in part “arrests loom.”

CNBC cited sources familiar with the situation who said that arrests could come within days. The sources say more information will be available by the end of the week as to who will be apprehended. So far, five people connected to the scandal have been arrested.
