New York City Council Member and former mayoral hopeful Eric Ulrich on Sunday urged John Catsimatidis to run for mayor of New York.
“If you run, I think there are going to be a lot of people behind you,” Ulrich said on "The Cats Roundtable" 970 AM-N.Y. You're a quintessential New Yorker … Someone like you, who has run in the past, could really make a difference. More importantly, we want to back someone who can win."
Catsimatidis ran for mayor in 2013 but lost in the Republican primary. He’s said to be mulling another run in 2018 and recently met with potential advisers, including Robe Cole, former aide to George Pataki.
“We have been meeting with people for the last 15 or 20 days about possibly including them in the campaign if we do run,” Catsimatidis told the New York Post in late February.

Ulrich considered challenging Mayor Bill de Blasio but recently announced he would only pursue reelection for the council seat he currently holds.
He told Catsimatidis: "We want somebody who is going to support the NYPD and support our law-enforcement community so we can keep our city safe.”
