Nancy Grace, the host of one of cable television's most popular shows, is leaving her network home for the past 12 years at HLN when her contract expires in October, reports say.

"We created an unparalleled platform that gave crime victims a voice and succeeded in helping to find missing people and spotlight unsolved homicides," Grace tells CNN in a statement.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Grace says she's leaving to embark on new venture involving "a very large digital component."

Grace broke the news Thursday morning to her staff of 18 — some of whom have been working with her since the late 1990s, when she got her start co-hosting on Court TV with the late Johnnie Cochran — at the network's CNN Center headquarters in Atlanta, THR reports.

Her last show airs Oct. 13.

Grace said she informed CNN executive vice president Ken Jautz, who hired her for the the fledgling CNN Headline News in 2005, about her exit earlier this month.

"At the end of my meeting with Ken, I gave him a big hug and he hugged me back. It was like full circle," she tells THR.

Grace remains the most-watched and talked-about — and sometimes controversial — personality on HLN, averaging 291,000 viewers in May, THR reports. Her show ranks 42nd out of all cable news programs.

"I will always be wedded to a traditional platform — which is TV, God help me," she tells THR. "My plan is to merge those two in an effective way, in my voice, the 'anti-crime' voice.

"Our show has never really been about me. It has been about the stories that we tell and the people we talk about and the mysteries we try to solve and the children we try to bring home. There's an entire section of our population that I want to reach."
