MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell has apologized via Twitter after a video surfaced of him angrily ranting and cursing at staff members.
The eight-minute profanity-laced video was posted Wednesday by Mediaite and went viral on Twitter.
In the video, O'Donnell can be seen during commercial breaks and while videotaped segments are being aired. He first complains about a conversation coming through his earpiece that has nothing to do with him.
"What's going on? Why am I losing this? Why don't I have sound?" he asks, before complaining, "Who's asking for a Labor Day rundown in my ear?"
"Someone in that control room is out of control," he says.
The video is a collection of clips all from O'Donnell's Aug. 29 show, according to Mediaite. Among the issues contributing to O'Donnell's foul mood are someone hammering on an adjacent floor that can clearly be heard on his set and a sound bite that was not edited as O'Donnell says he had instructed.
O'Donnell is seething at times and pounds his hand on his desk as problems continue to pile up.
"Every time we go to a SOT [sound bite] there's a woman talking in my ear about something that has nothing to do with what we're doing here," he says.
As loud pounding can be heard, he yells, "Stop the hammering!" and is told it is coming from another floor.
"I'll go down to the g******** floor myself and stop it," he says. "Keep the g******** commercial break going. Call f***ing Phil Griffin, [president of MSNBC.] I don't care who the f*** you have to call. Stop the hammering. Empty out the g******** control room and find out what's going on."
He crumples his notes in angry fists at times, and slams his pen down on the desk.
After a sound bite airs, he complains he had instructed part of it to be edited out because it will offend the audience, and they will be right when they complain about it.
"It just f***ing sucks," he says finally. "It f***ing sucks to be out here with this out of control s***."
