Mount Sinai Testing for Person for Ebola Recently in West Africa

Mount Sinai Hospital in New York is testing a person for the Ebola virus who had recently been to West Africa, the hospital said in a statement today.

The person, who has high fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, is in isolation at the medical center, according to the statement. The patient appeared at the emergency room yesterday, the hospital said.

“All necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff,” the hospital said. “We will continue to work closely with federal, state and city health officials to address and monitor this case, keep the community informed and provide the best quality care to all of our patients.”
