The far majority of Israeli Jews are aware Muslims want to destroy their state and would like Israeli leaders such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue to keep them safe, Author Mordechai Nisan told Newsmax TV.
Nisan was on Thursday's "America Talks Live" to discuss this week's elections in Israel and its overall state of affairs.
"This war of the Arabs against Israel, against the Jews, against Zionism, has been unresolvable for the basic reason as you suggested: the Arabs are committed ultimately to their final goal, which is the destruction of the Jewish state of Israel," said Nisan, author of the new book, "The Crack-Up of the Israeli Left."
"But I should add, and it was demonstrated in the election results, that overwhelmingly, most Israelis — probably about two-thirds, at least, of the total Jewish population of the country — really stands strong and stands straight and understands the nature of the 'game,' which is that the Arabs are out to harm us and attack us, terrorize us."
Nisan added he feels the political left's momentum in Israel is slowing down.
"The left [in Israel] is on a political slide now for decades, and I basically show that in the book," he said. "The future of the left is not very positive in Israeli politics, and that, of course, is good for the country.
"The leftists . . . will continue to dissolve and perhaps, if we're really lucky, disappear from the Israeli political scene."
