Missouri U.S. Senate candidate Eric Schmitt on Tuesday launched a new ad stressing issues most important to many voters in The Show-Me State – God, family, country, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Schmitt, seen swinging a baseball bat, uses the ad to say he'll go to Washington to fight against President Joe Biden's "socialist agenda."
"Stopping election fraud and protecting the integrity of your vote … securing our border ... banning critical race theory ... and keeping men out of girls' sports," Schmitt says in the ad while hitting a baseball when stating each issue.
Schmitt, Missouri's attorney general, is in a hotly contested Republican primary race against Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-Mo., and former Gov. Eric Greitens to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt. The GOP primary is scheduled for August 2.
Former President Donald Trump has not issued a formal endorsement in the race, though on Friday said he will not be supporting Hartzler.
"You can forget about Vicky Hartzler for Senate from the Great State of Missouri. She called me this morning asking for my Endorsement, much as she has on many other occasions," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
"I was anything but positive in that I don't think she has what it takes to take on the Radical Left Democrats, together with their partner in the destruction of our Country, the Fake News Media and, of course, the deceptive & foolish RINOs. I was very nice to Vicky on the call, but will NOT BE ENDORSING HER FOR THE SENATE!"
Schmitt has visited Trump at the former president's Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida, and held a private fundraiser there in March.
"I have always fought for my fellow Missourians and I won't let the failures of the Biden administration ruin our conservative values," Schmitt, a sixth-generation Missourian, said in a release about the new ad.
"Washington isn't working for working people, Biden's policies are a total disaster and the American people are paying the price. That's why I'll take a big stick to the Senate and fight for President Trump's America First agenda."
