Report: Military Personnel Warned ISIS Might Target Families

By    |   Thursday, 02 October 2014 08:57 PM EDT

The Islamic State (ISIS) might be using social media to target the families of U.S. military personnel, according to an Army intelligence bulletin.

Fox News reports that the bulletin from the Army Threat Integration Center warns that ISIS members have been advised to search through social media profiles for addresses and "show up [at their homes] and slaughter them."

"Given the continued rhetoric being issued by ISIL's media services and supporters through various social media platforms the ARTIC is concerned of the possibility of an attack," the bulletin says. "Soldiers, Government Civilians and Family Members are reminded to be vigilant of their surroundings and report suspicious activities to their respective military or local law enforcement."

The Army told Fox News in a written statement that protection levels at military installations have not changed.

"This document is a reminder to stay vigilant," the Army told Fox News. "It provides renewed emphasis on force protection measures to ensure the safety and security of our DOD components, defense critical infrastructure, personnel and communities."
