By    |   Wednesday, 03 May 2017 08:31 PM EDT

Hillary Clinton's denial of her role in her election loss – instead Tuesday blaming it on FBI Director James Comey and the Russians – "is going to go on forever," political commentator Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

"Let me take you back to 1980," the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan told host Bill Tucker on "America Talks Live" in an interview. "On Oct. 6 of 1980, to Nov. 3 of 1980, I was on 66 airplane rides and visited 19 states on behalf of my father.

"My sister, Maureen, was doing the same thing with her own entourage," he added. "My dad was doing his own thing with his own entourage.

"One of the reasons we won, other than it was Jimmy Carter, was that we outworked Jimmy Carter.

"One of the main reasons that, in fact, the president won was that [Donald] Trump won because he outworked Hillary Clinton.

"Yes, she ran a bad campaign, but he outworked her," Reagan said. "She thought she was always going to win.

"Remember all those days that she took off and didn't go out and campaign because she was going to rest? She would do all those things.

"Those days, Donald Trump was working Wisconsin, Michigan and the states ultimately that he won that put him over the top."
