Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg on Wednesday debuted a new ad highlighting his work with former President Barack Obama, who has not endorsed a candidate.

The ad begins with a clip of Obama praising Bloomberg at a rally in 2013, saying he’s “been a leader throughout the country for the past twelve years,” as mayor of New York City, first as a Republican from 2001 to 2007, and then as an independent from 2007 to 2018, when he officially became a Democrat.

A narrator notes that “Mayor Bloomberg and President Obama worked together in the fight for gun safety laws, to improve education, and to develop innovative ways to help teens gain the skills needed to find good jobs.”

Obama can then be heard saying, in an audio clip dated November, 2012, "At a time when Washington is divided in old ideological battles, he shows us what can be achieved when we bring people together to seek pragmatic solutions.”

Since beginning his campaign, Bloomberg has spent more than $300 million on ads, and a spokeswoman for his campaign said Tuesday that he plans to double that after the Iowa caucus, which was marred by technical problems.

“After more than a year of this primary, the field is as unsettled as ever. No one has made the sale or even come close to it,” Bloomberg campaign spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told the Associated Press on Tuesday. “Meanwhile, Mike is taking the fight to Trump every day, doubling down on the national campaign strategy we’ve been running from the beginning.”
