Tuesday, 22 March 2011 09:49 AM EDT

Microsoft has filed a lawsuit against bookseller Barnes & Noble charging that their electronic book reader infringes on patents. The company is also suing Foxconn and Inventec, makers of the Nook reader, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.

Previously, Microsoft sued Motorola charging its Droid phones violated patent rights, the online publication said.

In the action against Barnes & Noble, Microsoft charged patent violations for Nook features involving tabbed window navigation, text selection and web-page loading.

Microsoft’s Horacio Gutierrez said, “The Android platform infringes a number of Microsoft’s patents, and companies manufacturing and shipping Android devices must respect our intellectual property rights,” the Post-Intelligencer said.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Seattle by the Redmond, Washington, based company. Microsoft has also filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission, the publication said.
