Microsoft has filed a lawsuit against bookseller Barnes & Noble charging that their
electronic book reader infringes on patents. The company is also suing Foxconn and Inventec, makers of the Nook reader, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.

The lawsuit is the latest in the battle over Google’s Android operating system used in a variety of electronic devices including smart phones. Various companies are suing in an effort to get licensing fees.
Previously, Microsoft sued Motorola charging its Droid phones violated patent rights, the online publication said.
In the action against Barnes & Noble, Microsoft charged patent violations for Nook features involving tabbed window navigation, text selection and web-page loading.
Microsoft’s Horacio Gutierrez said, “The Android platform infringes a number of Microsoft’s patents, and companies manufacturing and shipping Android devices must respect our intellectual property rights,” the Post-Intelligencer said.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Seattle by the Redmond, Washington, based company. Microsoft has also filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission, the publication said.
