Former President Barack Obama urged Americans to remember and honor American’s "fallen heroes."
His remarks came in an afternoon tweet posted on Memorial Day.
"We can never truly repay the debt we owe our fallen heroes," he tweeted. "But we can remember them, honor their sacrifice, and affirm in our own lives those enduring ideals of justice, equality, and opportunity for which generations of Americans have given that last full measure of devotion."
Obama's tweet was posted at 12:02 p.m. ET – about halfway through President Donald Trump's speech at Arlington National Cemetery, according to the Washington Examiner.
Trump paid tribute to those who have fallen in battle.
"We mourn alongside their families and we strive to be worthy of their sacrifice," he said.
