Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that Senate Republicans would unveil their tax reform proposal on Friday.
House Republicans last week unveiled their tax proposal, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Republicans continue to mark up their bill in committee, a process Ways and Means chair Rep. Kevin Brady hopes to have completed by Thursday.
McConnell's announcement comes the same day Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, calling House Republicans' proposal to ax deductions for Americans in high-taxed blue states "a mistake."
McConnell also told reporters that Republican Senator Rand Paul, who was injured in a confrontation with a neighbor at his Kentucky home late last week, would return to Congress next week.
