Mary Tyler Moore Dies: Legendary TV, Film Actress Was 80

Actress Mary Tyler Moore has died after being on a respirator for more than a week, TMZ reported shortly after breaking the news she had been hospitalized and was in "grave condition"

"Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine," Moore's representative told TMZ in a statement. "A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile."

Moore suffered from Type 1 diabetes and previously had a tumor removed from her brain, but the conditions of her death have not yet been reported.

Moore played Laura Petrie on "The Dick Van Dyke Show" from 1961 to 1966 starred in the beloved "Mary Tyler Moore Show" as Mary Richards from 1970 to 1977.

Fans took to Twitter to mourn the actress.
