Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Thursday night called on Democrat leadership to bring up President Joe Biden's gun legislation proposals for votes in Congress.
Graham tweeted after Biden urged lawmakers to take action against gun violence by restoring a ban on the sale of assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines after a string of mass shootings.
"I stand ready to vote on ALL the proposals mentioned by President Biden tonight and encourage the Democratic Leader to bring them forward for votes," Graham tweeted Thursday night.
"I also stand ready to work across the aisle to find common ground - something that was absent from President Biden's address to the nation."
Biden's address to the nation came after mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, killed a combined 31 people. Both alleged gunmen were 18 years old.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Thursday said that three new gun laws marked up by the House Judiciary Committee will head to the floor for a vote next week.
The package of bills raises the age to buy semi-automatic firearms from 18 to 21, bans civilian use of high-capacity magazines and bump stocks, imposes mandatory background checks on "ghost gun" purchases, bolsters firearm storage laws, and bans proxy buyers for those who do not pass a background check.
