The climate change debate is a way for President Barack Obama to assume "dictatorial-like powers" that will allow the Democratic Party to "accomplish whatever it is they want to accomplish," conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh said.
"The whole point of this is to gin up the same kind of fear they hope to gin up in the single woman/mother category and minorities,"
Limbaugh said on his radio show Tuesday. "It also gives Obama an issue. There isn't a single issue that the Democrats can run for re-election on in the upcoming midterms. Not a single one. Everything they've done has blown up on them."
So by pushing climate change, "the left has attempted to corral people to agree with them and sweep them up into this political movement that's called climate change,"
Limbaugh said.
"It used to be called global warming, and then when the warming stopped they had to change the term. The main technique that they've used is fear combined with guilt, and it has worked well."
The message, Limbaugh said, is that capitalism is destructive to the planet, and people are destroying the environment with greenhouse gases from energy produced from fossil fuels.

"We've got 10 years or 20 years or 30 years or 50 years or a hundred years, depending on the report, to fix it, or we're all gonna die," Limbaugh said.
But the stories are told to encourage people to vote Democratic, "to get bigger and agree for taxes to go up, and that's how you could be absolved of your sin and your part, the role you played in destroying the world," Limbaugh said.
Bigger government means more regulations and limits on what people can do, but "there isn't any man-made disaster occurring out there; it can't be proved," Limbaugh said. "There is no empirical data of climate change. It's all computer model prediction."
Obama said this week he's concerned about climate change after seeing satellite photos of drought-stricken Nevada and California, Limbaugh said, but the original global warming predictions said there would be massive floods but no droughts.
"They take whatever extreme of the day is happening, and they assign it to climate change," Limbaugh said.
Meanwhile, White House Special Adviser
John Podesta, who joined the Obama administration in December, said at the White House daily press briefing on Tuesday that there are lawmakers who will try to stop the administration from enforcing the Clean Air Act, but the White House is determined to make sure the law is fully implemented.
"Translation: The Clean Air Act permits us to do whatever we want to do,"
Limbaugh said.
The talk show host also
accused the "state-run" media Tuesday of playing along with the administration's push on climate change.
"The whole thing, folks, is a preplanned, preprogrammed political push," Limbaugh said. "Bill Clinton did the same thing with weathermen back in 1997."
