Pete Hoekstra, former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, is calling for a “red team” — an independent panel of experts — to review the intelligence on Iran’s development of nuclear weapons and issue its own report. The team’s report could be compared and contrasted with the official National Intelligence Estimate that the 16 intelligence agencies issued jointly.
“They may come out and be exactly the same. They may be very, very different. But at least we will have two sets of eyes from two very, very different perspectives so that we can develop the best policy to move forward,” the Michigan Republican told LIGNET managing editor Fred Fleitz in an exclusive interview last week.
