LIGNET: Israel Should Not Have to Go It Alone, Dershowitz Says

Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz tells LIGNET in an exclusive interview that the United States and other nations should join with Israel in doing what’s necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

“I hope Israel doesn’t have to attack alone,” Dershowitz says. “It would have the right to attack, but it would create all kinds of potential risks, and dangers.”

Dershowitz, who has written and lectured extensively on Israel and Arab-Israeli relations, has been referred to as Israel’s “lead attorney in the court of public opinion.” In 2010, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked him to serve as Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, but he declined, saying that his allegiance is to the United States.
